On May 1st, 2016, a 9 year boy named Liam Panay will be running in the 5k run in the Toronto Marathon to raise money for his friend who unfortunately passed away in an ATV accident last year.
Tyler Massey was only 9 years old when he sadly passed away after losing control of an adult sized ATV. From this tragedy came the Tyler Massey Memorial Fund and the Tyler Massey Law.
Between 2001 and 2011, 33% of ATV related emergency room visits were children under the age of 16. The legacy of Tyler Massey is to educate, influence, and make an impact on families, parents, and children about the dangers and risks of children under the age of 14 riding adult sized ATVs.
Liam once attended Goodwood Public School with Tyler Massey, and the boys both often wished for a playground. Liam is hoping to raise $2,000 for the Tyler Massey Memorial Fund. The goal is to help build a playground in his friend's memory.
